Why I (Almost) Never Click "Slideshow" in Google Slides

Google Slides is great. The slideshow button is great. There's just one problem: I usually need a lot of tabs and windows open at once, but if I open a slideshow using the slideshow button, then I can't move to anything else without exiting the slideshow.

Has this ever happened to you?

Fortunately, there is a solution. Instead of clicking the slideshow button, edit the URL.

Solution #1: replace "/edit" with "/preview"

This solution will open the presentation in a tab that allows you to easily navigate away from the slideshow without exiting it completely. There will, however, be a small navigation bar at the bottom.

Solution #2: replace "/edit" with "/preview?rm=minimal" (***my preferred solution***)

This solution will open the presentation in a tab that allows you to easily navigate away from the slideshow without exiting it completely AND remove the navigation bar at the bottom, leaving you with a clean interface and the freedom to leave the tab at will.

Example

Here is a Google Slideshow link.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/16jTdqRcxlONIAzbsjEEOdSFSfyr6zJUmPE4uKrnz9e8/edit#slide=id.p

Notice that near the end of the link, the text "/edit" appears.

Highlight everything from "edit" to the end of the link and replace it with "preview" (navigation bar) or "preview?rm=minimal" (no navigation bar).
